They also have direct copies of the bluray disc, meaning there's been no loss of data through a remux

The only data lost in a remux is the blu-ray menus. The video and audio streams are exactly the same.

sure, the data isn't lost from the remux itself, what I meant is that the most popular remuxes always have way lower bitrate than what was originally in the bluray, that is, the 7gb torrent is way more popular than the 45gb one for a reason
