Having a bit of computer trouble, bought a new PC yesterday, can only connect to a monitor via USB or HDMI. my normal set up is to a 32" TV, used to connect my old pc using a VGA. Now I'm using HDMI, the quality on my screen is a lot less and it's quite blurry,
any suggestions?

Have you tried adjusting the aspect ratio on your tv?

This can usually be accessed through:
menu-->video/picture-->aspect ratio.

Try options such as "16:9" (aspect ratio of most modern monitors) or if your tv has an "automatic" or "scan" mode try that instead.

Yeah I've done everything I can with the TV, had absolutely no issue when connecting with VGA, as soon as I use HDMI, the quality has just dropped significantly, tried every screen resolution setting, and every setting on the TV menu. nothing seems to help

Picture doesn't show much. the screen has lost its sharpness, its all slightly blurry like it's been zoomed in too much, but it's the same on every resolution setting.

kinda like watching a movie on blu-ray, then watching it on VHS, it's that kind of quality change

seems problem is in the display adapter of the new PC that is different than old. Post model of PC if it's a prebuilt.

What is the highest resolution available in your display settings of new pc?. What resolution did you run at with the old pc?.

highest res on this PC is 1920x1080

My old PC I ran at a slightly lower res to see icons better on a bigger screen, but quality was perfect.

I don't know what to tell you especially since I don't know what you're looking at. Probably just has a crappy video card or something.

The specs say it only has a 300w maximum power supply which is pretty disgusting. I wouldn't be surprised if that has something to do with it.

I would investigate further still. I'm only guessing a PSU could cause that. I'm not sure if it's a either "It works or it doesn't" thing with the PSU. If the PSU can power it then you're OK if not then it won't even turn on. I'm not sure if a PSU can really half ass the power. I would think if the PSU can't handle it it would turn off.

That does suck though. Usually prebuilts are a pain in the ass to change parts for. I would just accept it instead of blowing more money on that thing.

Hmm, that is interesting. If that's the case it probably isn't the PSU. have you done a fresh factory format on it yet?. Have you updated all drivers?. Get video drivers from the manufacturer website and not windows update.

Bottom line is go to Nvidia site and go to "download drivers".

Manually select your hardware and os and stuff and it should shoot you to the most current ones.

Hmm, Do it like I did it. I'm assuming you did do the correct download and the problem is in the current drivers installed. Did you try uninstalling them?. This might get ugly depending how your computer responds to installation of video drivers but I think that's what's necessary to install the Nvidia ones.

This thread goes into what looks like a guy having the same issue as you having a hard time installing real drivers on his prebuilt of a similar model to yours.

Looks like you should uninstall your old drivers with this program http://www.wagnardmobile.com/?q=node/103. It's called Display Driver Uninstaller and then after a reboot install the new drivers you downloaded.

Yeah, My bad, shit. I was going off this http://www.acer.com/ac/en/SG/content/model/DT.B1HSG.001

It's supposedly the specs for that model PC and it says they come with a Nvidia GTX 745.

Scratch that then, manually get the Intel HD graphics 530 then.

I have never needed to download Intel drivers so not too familiar with their downloads page.

Damn. Well from here I would say you need to use the uninstaller to uninstall the current drivers first and if that doesn't work then try a real install of Windows 10 from an actual Windows 10 ISO and then try installing drivers on top of that. Seems to me like either the factory software is interfering with the installation OR we still don't have the correct drivers setup.

- replace a working PSU to solve a display problem

Ended up speaking to manufacturers.. Nothing can really be done as it seems to be a general problem regarding HDMI connection, so would need to upgrade graphics card preferably with a VGA connection attached, would suit the TV better

What video card was in it?. Can you add the video card from your OLD pc into a PCI express slot in the new PC (if available obviously) and maybe change the PSU also if it fits right. Might be able to have a nice frankenstein prebuilt.

i have the same GPU and encountered the same issue when I installed windows. Installing the intel drivers fixed everything.
