Katawa Shoujo is a beautiful entry, so I guess you could continue with the theme of easy dating sims.

Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc is gettign insanely popular nowadays.
>15 students awake in their high school, with no memory of how they got there. They are told they are locked in forever, UNLESS someone kills another student. In that case, if they aren't discovered during a class trial, he/she goes free.
It's a thriller/murder mystery game. Driven by mysteries and AMAZING characters. Lots of plot twists.
Umineko/Higurashi are damn good too
Some other beginners stuff, not necessarily good:

It's got some good storylines. 22+ endings and I'd say about half are good
