I'm looking to buy a laptop to play games on. Do you think these specs are sufficient?

Intel Core i5-7200U 2.5 GHz
8 GB RAM
1 TB HDD + 256 GB SSD storage
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 950M graphics.

I'm most concerned about the processor.

The three most intensive games I play are GTA V Online, Payday 2, and Borderlands 2. But I'm also hoping this doesn't get antiquated in a year.

I think the graphics card is the best I can afford. Any higher than that jumps up hundreds of dollars.

Are you sure you checked the i5-7200U, not the i5-7200HQ?

Do not but them unless you really want to save your battery power. That GPU will bottleneck your CPU and it will start thermal throttling after 1 hour of gaming.

It has the exact same TDP as every other Skylake; if the laptop can't cool it, it can't cool any processor.

The 9xxm GPUs are trash. There are laptops with 10xx GPUs, the exact same GPUs that go in desktops. Yet you're about to buy a laptop with a GPU that's obsolete right now.

Also OP this might not help a whole lot but this machine has somewhat similar specs and there's a breakdown of some gaming performance there. Maybe you could find the laptop you're looking at on this site too to see how it handles games
