Need some electronics advice.
Was gifted this storebought RGB LED strip set which includes an LED strip, RGB controller box, 24 button remote control, power supply.
Problem is, as soon as I plug it in the strip lights up BLUE and doesn't respond to remote control. The soldering job looks pretty messy, and I wouldn't be surprised to find that something is being shorted out.
Would it be possible to tell where I could look for a short-circuit, given that it lights up BLUE straight away and doesn't change no matter what?
Additional info:
1. Strip is originally 3 meters long, I've cut a 1 meter long piece of it.
2. PSU output is DC12V 3000mA.
3. The circuit board (pic related) has the following number on it: XWDA-0411.
4. I've looked at the remote control through a phone camera to see if the infra red transmitter lights up, and it does when pressing buttons.
Any pointers would be appreciated. Even though buying a new controller box online is pretty cheap, I wouldn't get it before Christmas, and this was supposed to be an early Christmas gift so I'm very eager to know if there's anything I can do to fix it myself.
I'm no electrician, but I can do basic soldering. Anything I can do to save this?
