Nothing comes close to Texhnolyze, really.
Gungrave and Shigurui have similar depravity/violence, Lain has a vaguely similar atmosphere and themes that are tied to Texhnolyze, but they're not the same.
You might also like Angel's Egg (more experimental) and Ergo Proxy (much less depressing but similar setting).

What about Lain? Texhnolyze is my favorite anime but nothing has compared to the feeling that Lain provoked when I watched it.
Not to hijack the thread (i also want reccs from texhnolyze) but i would love some reccs like Lain as well.

I'm not sure. I'm assuming you've seen GiTS?
There's also Haibane Renmei which ABe has worked on but it's not really the same thing. Lain is pretty unique.
Kino no Tabi gave me Lain-esque vibes at times though.

I mean, it has some pretty dark and eerie moments, but other than that it's a fairly serene experience. Ginko goes out of his way to tell his clients that their pests aren't evil beings.

this is the only anime I've ever dropped. fucking trash, 90% of an episode would just be panning the camera while the sound of cicadas buzz in the backround with super eye irritiating gloom gives me a fucking headache, it was like shiguruiri all over again but atleast that anime was good and had a story.
