originally made this thread for /a/ but was informed that it's more of a request for recommendations than a discussion starter, so i moved it here

Anyone know of any anime/manga that features drug use by protagonist/not evil characters? Weed doesn't count. I know in the Welcome to the NHK manga, Satou does a bunch of research chemicals with Yamazaki, plus I read this fairly short manga series by Matsumoto Jiro (the guy who did Freesia) called Tropical Citron, where everyone drinks this soda pop that induces menacing hallucinations. Of course there's Akira too, and everything on https://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?category=Drug+Abuse%2FAddiction . I'm trying to get a better idea of how hard drugs are viewed by Japanese society, and specifically by otakus/anime & manga creators.

also recommendations for anime that are good to watch on drugs are welcome
