>>324370Best you can hope for is sci-fi. Ghost in the Shell and Legend of the Galactic Heroes both have different but very enjoyable takes on political intrigue. GitS is cyberpunk alternate timeline stuff, LoGH is a far-future space opera.
Though last season there was a pretty good fantasy anime called ACCA-13 that had a setting reminiscent of 20th century Europe and was mostly focused on political intrigue. It's short and sweet, only 12 episodes with a nice tidy plot line all wrapped up at the end, if you don't feel like getting into GitS which is about 50 episodes or LoGH which is over 100.
