so I'm trying to download a RAR file but whenever I download it, it doesn't work. I click "show in folder" and a chrome symbol appears where the file symbol should be. whenever I click it just redownloads itself. what do I do?

It's probably downloading an HTML web page instead of a RAR file, in which case it may be a bogus link.

If yer using Windoze, search "Folder Options" in Control Panel, and uncheck "Hide extentions for known file types".

Assuming you can indeed open RAR files, and haven't somehow associated RAR with Chrome. (In which case install https://www.rarlab.com/download.htm or 7z.)
