Give steins;gate a watch as you haven't seen it? It's a sci-fi thriller - 24 episodes and a movie.
Clannad & After Story, 2 seasons both ~24 episodes. Clannad is about school, romance and drama, After Story is drama with the same characters in their adult life. Well worth watching, very emotional at points.
Only 12 eps but Puella Magi Madoka Magica is very good and you (hopefully) have no idea what you're in for. There's also a movie after.
Kara no Kyoukai: Garden of Sinners is a series of 7 movies of varying length (50 mins - 2 hours). They're thrillers and look amazing. They're presented out of chronological order like Pulp Fiction is but it all comes together and is worth it.
Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso (Your Lie In April) is a drama, romance, music anime. The music and the character interaction is amazing. 22 episodes long.
Anohana is a supernatural drama where some childhood friends are brought back together after an incident in the past. Only 11 episodes but a very good watch.
If you liked Watamote, Welcome to the NHK! is kind of similar in that he is a socially awkward recluse, but he's an adult. 24 episodes long.
Golden Time is a romance set in college, 24 episodes long. Same writer as Toradora.
Nagi no Asukara is a fantasy romance and it's quite unique in it's setting. 26 episodes long.
