I tried updating from Windows 7 to 10.
The update was stuck at 8% for 5 hours so I turned off my pc by holding down the power button.
Now it won't recognize the SSD I tried to update anymore.
Bios won't recognize it.
Bootable Windows 7 USB Stick didn't recognize it.
The Windows 7 on my HDD doesn't recognize it.
I tried switching cables and Sata ports.

What do I do?
I just want my SSD to work and an operating system that doesn't randomly freeze.

Various options including:

(a) wait for another three hours (or more), just like I did last time my fucking useless MS W10 machine took it upon itself to impose an update at the most inconvenient time;

(b) Bang your machine with a clenched-fist, right up its chassis a few dozen times, just like your average IT specialist;

(c) contact all the other half-baked brain-dead autists, who've done the same, and bring a class-action against Microsoft, suing them for discrimination against mental defectives who can't follow simple instructions;

(d) kys.

I should have waited another 5 hours and it would have prevented my misfortune for sure. Having trouble with Windows all week and assuming it's another kind of shitty error is just the delusion of someone simple minded.
Ohh wise Anon what do I do now that I was stuck by this tragedy?

All Windows setup does is write data. It can't brick a disk, even if you turn it off whilst it's writing. Please fuck off to a board where roleplaying is permitted.

Try a Ubuntu liveCD or USB. If you can see the drive at all, you can reformat it or try fixing the tables or something.

Using a bootable windows 7 usb stick there's an option to install a driver when it wants me to pick a harddrive for installing windows 7.
When I select that and search for a driver it finds my ssd as "Boot X" with some folder from windows. I obviously can't select it, but that's the only way I get a sign from my ssd at all.

With the usb I also get a repair option but it tells me it doesn't work because it's not compatible or something. I assume that's because I was updating it to 10, so the usb with 7 can't do anything with it.
I was gonna turn make the usb stick so I can install windows 10 with it instead, downloading the iso right now. Is that worth trying?
Also gonna try with Ubuntu I guess.

Use Ultimate Boot CD (UBCD)

Format the SDD with Diskpart, and start again. This time have your internet wired in as you update to Win10 as I can only assume that it was searching for drivers without an internet connection, hence the "delay".

I've also had a system disk become an unbootable disk, which sucks for a system disk. One tool on UBCD allowed me to turn that flag back on.

Perfect opportunity to ditch that MS crap and install Linux. Use TestDisk to restore the disk to recognisable state, if it isn't found it physically got damaged, pull whatever important files were on there as backup, make a live USB, format and install the distro of your choice. Remeber you were trying to update to TEN(!), that was a close call.

Gonna try UBCD next.

The fact that I'm having those issues scares me away from Linux because that requires even more research and knowledge.

Looks like your SSD is fried if it can't even detect the interface.

I assume you've tried every SATA connection on the mobo? and every SATA & power lead you have?

TestDisk is an extremely powerful tool, if that one cannot even with a deep scan detect a drive it is very likely kill- which wonders me, because HDDs can crash because moving parts or headcrashes- but an SSD? No moving parts, nothing, the data saved in the flash memory cannot simply be gone, sudden disappearance speaks for a controller defect, the thing that sits right behind the plug and manages the seeking, input, output, integrity etc of the data.
