Running out of USB ports

Only one UBS port in the back of my case works and I have only two in the front
I have no idea why they don't work anymore but I don't want to lose more, recovering them will be ideal.

how many of the ports are actually connected to the motherboard? depending on where you got your machine, whoever assembled it might have been too lazy to plug them all in, or there might not be enough USB connectors on the motherboard.

if windows, control panel -> device manager -> Universal Serial Bus controllers - how many does it say you have?

There all should be connected, I have used most of them before and later notice they're dying
on the device manager I see seven, some ports do seem to work at boot but get bad later on

have you checked for updated drivers? Maybe even cleaned out the ports?

failing that, just get a hub.

What makes you think they aren't working anymore? Have you tried testing with multiple devices to make sure it isn't the device?

the power rails are probably burned inside the controller, but the data lines should still be work. see if an externally powered usb hub works on one of the non-working ports

Is the other way around possible? because some times my mouse and kayboard will not work but still have the lights that say they're powered

it is, but not for the same reasons. that is either caused by bad contact on the plugs or a bad/broken usb cable. if the cable works ok on another usb port, even if you move it around while plugged, you might just have bad contacts on the data pins of the usb port (2 inner pins on the female plug slightly over bent). fixing that sucks but is doable with a small needle and some patience, just make sure not to pull the contacts too much and that all the power is off (no plugs on the wall or battery/chargers, and discharge the psu by pressing the motherboard power on button on the front after disconnecting every power source)

if you have exhausted other possibilities,
get a light source, aim at female usb-a port, stick going at an angle from the side stick the thin needle bellow one of the middle two contacts, bend the needle down a bit so that the contact bends a bit up, do same for other middle contact
the port should look like pic related where the contacts protrude, from the plastic substrate they are in, just a bit, enough to make a good reliable connection.
do not over strain the pins! gud luck
