Find a swimming pool, and build a self contained dunk-able grow chamber that you can pump air into, and see if there's a difference to a regular growing methods. If lights, and electricity is something you don't want to deal with then choose mushrooms, or other edible fungi. Write about any differences, any improvements over the control group, and how to build as cheap as possible, and even investigate how to monetize. Make it seem revolutionary like it could end world hunger, or something.
