People were getting banned and warned because they were posting screenshots from some shitty airing ecchi (read:nipples everywhere) show "Valkyrie Drive: Mermaid". It got bad enough that an open forum was held with Jackie 4chan. We talked about how we do these gray shows. Basically he agreed, but added that nothing racy for the OP image.
Then out of the blue, a mod makes a sticky. On /a/. The last time we had a sticky I think it was moot reallowing Naruto while making the board n/a/ruto. This was just about as shitstorm inducing.
He said that there were people trying to induce change in long-standing policy and that he was merely holding the status quo by strictly enforcing the blue background color of /a/. Not only did he go back on what anHiroyuki had just said (who at the time was already late for a flight for France), but when asked to explain his shit when weekly To Love-ru manga threads are a thing and other ecchi shows (Queen's Blade; Seikon no Qwaser; TLR; etc) all had unimpeded airing discussions, he just straight up denied those shows existing at all.
All the replies there are the entirety of the board telling nipplemod to fuck off, stop rewriting history, and stop going against the board’s wishes and the admin’s word.
