if you have plenty of unused memory, many kinds of software will expand to fill the space and then give up a lot of the extra when something that needs it comes around
or at least that's how it works on linux

but how much memory do you actually have, in terms of gigabytes?

You can look at your task manager and see what programs use how much memory. You can easily tell if it's mostly Chrome (which I assume is the case).

Ok so it says it's Chrome but right under it is svchost.exe
What's that?
Also is there anyway to make Chrome use less memory?

That's a system process, it's fine. You can cut down memory usage by using less plugins on Chrome, and less tabs, but Chrome takes up a lot of memory regardless so if you wanna do something else, especially with how much memory you have, you might just wanna close Chrome

Hmmmm, recently my PC did have a reeeaally bad slowdown. I had to force shut down because it was basically just slugging around
But it was the first time it ever happened in all the years I've had this PC and it's been stable ever since that incident
Should I be worried?

Playing a game on Newgrounds. Nothing intensive either, it was a visual novel
The weird part is my PC is stable now but if I go back to the game, the game itself runs at 2 frames per second

Hmmmm try clearing your browsers cache maybe? I'm not sure, I don't play browser games. But if you can upgrade your PC it can't hurt to do anyways. RAM isn't a super expensive update anyways. Not sure if that'll fix your browser problems though
