Hey people, I have a bunch of questions that were on a test regarding the history of the US. Would anyone be willing to help me out? These are mostly beginner-level questions, looking at things from a more of a wider look rather than a detailed one.

Let's not go into conspiracies and such. Simple textbook history. Here are a few questions I'm having a hard time with:

c. the benefits of new technology d. causes of the Great Depression

I am about 50-50 between a. and b.

7. Which statement best illustrates a basic idea of President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s New Deal?
a. The economy sometimes needs public money to encourage business activity.
b. Unemployed workers should rely on the states rather than on the federal government for help.
c. Communism provides the only real solution to economic problems.
d. The United States reached its economic peak in the 1920s and is now a declining industrial power.

And this one has me lost.

5. b (Scopes trial was about teaching evolution in schools, national prohibition was about the banning of alcohol, and "flappers" were entirely a social trend. All of these issues are related to basic lifestyle, as opposed to economic issues, negating d., and they have nothing at all to do with technology, negating c., leaving A and B. But it's pretty obvious that it would be B.
7. a (you can figure this one out by process of elimination. d. doesn't even seem to have a relation to the question, c. is a bold, hyperbolic claim that you can surmise is probably not the answer, b. only requires a general idea of what FDR was about, which was big federal government, and it's very unlikely that he would be pushing legislation that diminishes the federal government's domain. a. is the only remaining option.

a. The United States wanted to help European nations by taking in their surplus population.
b. Most Americans desired a more diversified culture.
c. Business and industry depended on the foreign capital brought by immigrants.
d. The American economy needed many unskilled workers.

My guess is D) from the research I've doine but I am not sure.

c. some banking policies were unsound and had led to the overexpansion of credit
d. consumer goods were relatively inexpensive

Also this one. Since my brain doesn't work with anything economic, I have a bit of a trouble with this one. I'd say C) but I am not sure

1. Yes, D. a and b are ridiculous head in the cloud type answers that would never be the right answer in an academic setting. Not to mention they are patently false in this case. This leaves c and d. We know that the immigrants that came from Europe were very poor, so it's unlikely that they had any capital to infuse into the American economy. So D is not only the only remaining choice, but a simple fact.

3. is c, correct again. Labor strikes simply would not have such a drastic effect on the entire economy. Consumer goods being inexpensive would be a good economic sign and only bolster the economy, so there's no way it could be D. This leaves B and C. But we know that America had know competition and the concept of a global economy was unheard of at that time. Further, the 1920s were a period of great protectionism due to the war, they did not decrease. This leaves C.

That question seems highly specific to your curriculum, I've never even heard of it. But a cursory google search reveals that it is B, and from the title, you can probably assume as much.
