Xbox controller audio

I bought an Xbox one controller and a wireless adapter for playing supported games on pc. the controls work. i want to use my headphones with it so I dont disturb my roomate when he's sleeping. For some reason the xbox one controller isnt showing up in my playback device list. any ideas anons?

the headset has a 3.5mm connector and there's a matching one on the controller. i want my computer's audio to be put through that.

There's two reasons why the controller doesn't show up as an audio device:
- You're using a Bluetooth connection. (Doesn't apply if you use the newer wireless adapter.)
- You're not using Windows 10 (preferably at least version 1607).

Looks like you got the Wireless adapter version. The Bluetooth version comes with a much smaller Bluetooth dongle.

You should be running at least version 1607 (or "Build 14361"). If that's the case, try updating the drivers for the controller and the firmware.

Microsoft claims that as long as i use the wireless adapter or USB, it should be able to put audio through either kind of controller.
