No idea but /b/ has been this way too. Obviously something is at fault. I doubt it's a mistake. Amazon and Wal-mart don't get fucked up this long.

Obviously this site is run on a budget and they let the most useless faggot and unprofessional boards get hit first so they choose to keep the retard boards offline and the at least halfway competent ones running.

Either that or it's totally random and /b/ as well as other servers went down due to most traffic since they DO get more traffic and are waiting to be fixed.

Assuming a relatively normal architecture, those are the reverse-proxies that handle static content, URL rewriting, and caching of dynamic content.

The idea is that although different parts of the site are hosted on different servers, you, the end-user, aren't exposed to this.
