try searching "songname flac" on archive.org or google
you can also try rutracker.org for torrents, it's in russian and looks sketchy as fuck but it really does have a lot torrents that you can't find anywhere else.
it's best used with adblock, google translate and any paid vpn (NOT a free vpn)

I appreciate it, but I would still like to obtain music through more legitimate means if at all possible. I've already been in RED, Apollo, and slsk for a while and I'm just not interested anymore, private or public or otherwise.

you can try googling the song/album/artist name and go to their website/bandcamp page but if they don't have one then you're probably out of luck for legit means
