I've been watching the first Dragon Ball and I'm looking for anime that are kind of similar. Thing is I like the parts where the focus is on the worldbuilding and adventure but don't like the parts where the fights overshadow everything else, especially the tornaments. Best examples of this that I can think of are FMA and not an anime, but Avatar. It doesn't even have to be a shounen though and non-adapted manga are fine as well.
