Just lurk /a/ and watch whatever they talk about. That simple. A lot of what /a/ watches is just seasonal stuff. Big LN franchises commonly get discussed (Monogatari, Index, Overlord, SAO, etc), plus industry mainstays like Evangelion or long running series like One Piece, Jojo, Detective Conan etc.

There's also myriad other smaller series you can discover just by lurking the board long enough. Despite the cliche that /a/ only likes cute girl anime, there's lots of different types of fans on the board. But yeah cute girls are very popular there so you'd better get used to it.

Just finished reading Knights of Sidonia the other night and need something to start reading or watching again. My favorite is Eureka Seven and other series I've enjoyed are Akira, Eva and 08th Mobile Suit team. I mostly watch mecha but willing to try anything good. Thanks!
