FMA(B) is a good series to start with and don't even bother trying to use the big four (One Piece, Dragon Ball, Naruto, and Fairy Tail) as a gateway because you will just get overwhelmed by the sheer number of episodes, most of which are filler anyway (lookin' at you, One Piece and Fairy Tail), AND you look like a weeb despite just starting. Best to find a 12-30 episode series with a good story/art/characters and enjoy the ride without over-thinking things.
