Yes. All it means is they'll stop releasing security updates and if more bugs and exploits are found in the system after then they will not be patched.

I've also been holding out with windows 7, but I'm starting to feel the pain. I use this desktop PC for gaming so when I try to upgrade my hardware I findout all the drivers are for windows 10 only, meaning my hardware is gimped until I upgrade my OS.

But if you're just using a laptop for browsing the internet or whatever you should be fine. As long as you're practicing safe internet habits you have nothing to worry about.
