It's amazing how a back can recover from injuries. due to lifting weights and moving huge ladders over the years I've had some scary pains and twinges, but if I take it easy for a while, but keep exercising at a moderate level I've always recovered (so far). The thing to avoid is sitting too much, or even worse bouncing around on a lawnmower seat all day long.
