I don't know but what happens if you just transfer the mp3 files to the main music folder instead of trying to make a subfolder?

It's impossible to not make a subfolder because all of my music is in subfolders of artist/album

This video is what I'm already doing and it doesn't work for my whole collection. I can transfer single mp3s, but I'm looking to transfer my 20gb entire collection.

its pretty basic you connect the photo to the pc with an usb cable, then it should appear as a new drive, on there (sometimes you'll have reconnect it) it should appear your phone folders, then without closing any windows you just copy paste the MP3's or any files.

another way would be uploading all your music to a website like dropbox or google drive and then on your phone you'll just download them.

I literally said in my OP that when I try to do this, the transfer starts but then quits on its own mid way. Just closes the transfer window with no error.

go to the appstore search for wireless file transfer
thats how i do it cause i feel the usb isnt consistent and leaves partial files sometimes

Have you tried other USB cables? While unlikey, there's the possibility of the cable you're using to be near breaking, so that most of the time it connects ok but can drop out after a while. The connector might also be worn and/or dirty, causing connection problems.

transferring files via usb on android to, what i am guessing is, a microsd card.. is slow. it's incredibly slow. if you copy a hundred files it'll take a while. if you copy a thousand, it'll take ages.

last time i backed up the 128GB card in my android pad, it took most of a day.

OP: try copying one folder of music at a time, and let it run.. sometimes it seems like it's not doing anything - that's just the microcontrollers in the microSD card trying to work out where to put the next file. these controllers are small, and not very bright.

This would take way too long.

I tried copying one artist folder at a time and it transferred files inconsistently. Was missing full sub-folders.

Personally, I install an FTP server on the phone and use Filezilla client to transfer files back and forth.
