What are some really good video games with twist endings that aren't

Pretty much none come to mind that have a twist and DON'T fall under one of these categories. I'd list examples to illustrate just how many games are like this but I can't spoiler text on /wsr/ and there's a fucking lot.

Shovel Knight: Plague of Shadows
The story isn't important/interesting so the plot twist doesn't matter. The game is good though.

1) Videogames, even when plot-driven, tend to care more for the gameplay.

2) A plot twist ending doesn't mean quality writing. Most of the times the exact opposite. A twist ending can ruin the entire story, so unless its something really logical like the "twist" of Spec Ops: The Line or something hinted all along the game/movie/book (then isnt really a twist) it won't work well.

I guess that's why Gone Home worked so well. We are used to twist endings, where everything turns out worse than we expected and Gone Home leaned havily on that.

Not exactly an ending, but does the Cloud/Zack twist in Final Fantasy VII count? Or does that fall under the "all in your head" umbrella, since it deals with amnesia and delusions?

I guess your categories are very broad and while it's easy to throw in a twist that nobody would expect, it's hard to come up with a good one that isn't just a deus ex machina insulting the player. So as with most stories (across games, books, movies, etc) game writers tend to stick with certain narrative conventions. Because they work.

Detroit: Become Human has a huge twist involving an NPC that you don't see coming - but that's because it makes zero sense and came right out of David Cage's ass (just like the identity of the killer at the end of Heavy Rain). It's easy to pull the rug out from underneath the whole plot and message, but that rarely makes for a good experience.
