I have about 4-5 laptops ranging from 10-20 years old. None of them work, but I want to salvage the hard drive data on them.

How should I go about doing this? Is it a matter of removing them from inside the laptop? Or is there another method? They're all running Windows.
I managed to boot one of them, but it didn't last long; it kept shutting off randomly and now it won't boot at all.
