Hey anons! Im looking to build a relatively cheap PC, just enough to run overwatch at atleast 60fps and passable graphics. i have never had any experience with computers where do i start?????

You start by looking at the specs needed to run Overwatch, which are pretty low.
For a CPU, a Ryzen 3 1200 should suffice and run under $100, a cheap compatible motherboard at about $60. A GTX 1050 graphic card will cost you an additional $130, and all you need else is a PSU and a SSD (or HDD if you want cheap and slow), probably another $100. And a case, of course, maybe an optical drive if you feel fancy.

Stupid me, I forgot to mention RAM. You'll need that too, of course, 8gb (2x4) for about $60. Make sure it's compatible with the board you buy (it will probably be DDR4).

almost all of what he said is true, except just don't get a Ryzen... Intel has cheaper CPUs that are strictly better. Ryzen is exclusively an American meme.

Just get Intel Pentium G4560 or G4520 or G4620; alternatively, some i3 of the 8000 series.

I'm using Intel myself (4690K), but the low-tier Ryzen are supposed to have a pretty good value-for-money ratio. And the end of the day, it's a matter of taste, I guess.

Not to be argumentative, but how is it a matter of taste? If the Intels literally have better performance, comparable/better power usage and lower costs... Seems like a shut-out.

The Ryzen is slightly better and cheaper, but not as fast on single-core processing (which obviously excludes most games). The TDP is 65 vs. 54 on the Intel side, though.

Prices wary; a "higher score" is of course present as the g4560 has only two physical cores but has little practical effects; and single-core speed is literally the only thing that matters with CPUs unless you're a hardcore/niche user that is specifically doing stuff like hosting servers or creating graphics or w/e.
