A lot of readers like him, and a lot of readers dislike him, but those who do seem to dislike him for political reasons (there is a lot of anti-communist allegory in his writing)
Even so, if you liked Tolkien's works, while not altogether allegory, they are still ripe with Christian themes, and he plainly injected his worldview into it. So you should be able to stomach Goodkind doing roughly the same thing, if not nearly as subtly as Tolkien.
My recommendation: read the first two books. I did not read any more, but I liked them. I don't care about communist or objectivism or whatever, so I wasn't offended by the books. I just thought they told a neat story, but again I only read two books and there are like 20 of them...
