It's a goofy anime about a magic user and a swords man made around that time period. You can find it on Netflix too if I remember right.

Should have included Nadia too. Forgot about it because its plot takes place in the early 1900s, but it's based on an even older Science Fiction novel in which the early 1900s would be the future, so it probably qualifies.
