Yes, but it's not as big as a page so you won't get native resolution. You need the iPad Pro that's the size of a tray.

maybe if you can afford new hardware you want a big screen e-reader but a 2018 ipad is very much good enough

Why ipad tho?
Just get cheap chinese android tablet with bigger screen and install tachiyomi. It's a lot cheaper for reading manga.
