You need to use Developer or Nightly. The prefs xpinstall.signatures.required and xpinstall.whitelist.required exist in Stable and Beta but don't actually do anything. I know because I tried.

Oh the humanity, that all the enterprise users couldn't use their addons on Saturday evening and Sunday morning. Truly Mozilla alienated their "95% [citation needed]" of ESR users by pushing a quick fix for those who cared slightly ahead of releasing an actual fix before the work week even starts.

Don't get me wrong, they are utter morons for letting the cert expire in the first place, but their incident response has actually been quite good all things considered.

Oh, you're too dumb to realize that that's the whole reason I mentioned them. If the fix works on Ubuntu it should on debian. If it doesn't work on debian then it's yet another reason why debian is shit.
