>>69524As a general media player VLC is clunky. It needs to rebuild font caches, has banding and general color issues, and for the longest time it didn't agree with mkv files or ordered chapters, which is a big no-no for anime fans. Though I think VLC ironed out its mkv issues ages ago, it still sometimes glitches out if I skip the video too much, no matter how recent it is.
I also hate its default subtitle renderer, and changing it is such a pain in the ass compared to MPC-HC.
All that said, VLC is pretty useful for network streaming. That's actually one of the main things it was developed for as a Video Lan Codec. It's super easy to set up a network stream with VLC, but so much other basic stuff you have to jump through hoops, shows where the priorities of the designers were.
