Most videos on youtube.com works, but some says:

Your browser does not currently recognize any of the video formats available.

I'm on basically fresh installed Fedora.

Right, I just tried downloading the videos. Linux says I need to install additional multimedia codecs and refers me to install them. When I click it, it says that software is already installed.

For some reason you can decimate the media support of firefox (on the basis of a patent license you don't like) and still distribute it as firefox, but if you want to remove one piece of artwork (on the basis of a copyright license you don't like) you have to call it iceweasel.
