Looking for "mature" anime recommendations.
"Mature" in terms of atmosphere and writing quality.
Examples; Texhnolyze, Monster, LogH, Patlabor movies etc.

No snarky comments pls, I'm not an elitist or ironic weeb. I watch all kinds of anime (been watching mahou shoujo a lot lately for example), its just what I'm in the mood for right now.

By mature do you mean serious, or do you mean gorefests?

If you want shows that make you think, try psychopass (cyberpunkish aesthetic) or paranoia agent (sort of lynchian psychological thriller)

As I said in terms of atmosphere and writing, though I get why you'd be confused since its usually commonly associated with "sex and gore"

I honestly don't know why I dropped psychopass back then but I might give it another shot
Paranoia Agent seems cool but for some reason it doesn't really appeal to me

Terror in Resonance was okay. There's some really terrible attempts at english in it that are amusing to listen to on their own.

Psychopass is definitely worth the watch (the first season anyways. I didn't have a problem with season two, but it's very understandable why a lot of people hate it.)

Is there a specific genre you're looking for, or just 'mature' in general?

No specific genre. Its hard to explain what I mean by "mature", mostly just writing quality, themes, atmosphere, aesthetic etc.
Pic related looks like chuuni crap but I though it was a genuinely mature show just because of its pacing, writing and atmosphere

Literally never heard of Hyouge Mono
Ashita no Joe I've read the manga a bit of, stopped somewhere around where he has a boxing match in prison
Rakugo is kino, one of my favorite anime
I dropped Houseki no Kuni after accidently skipping an episode and not even noticing because of how repetitive the show was
Also seen a couple of the other shows

I dunno man, a lot of these I've either already watched or dropped, or I'm familiar enough with them to know that I don't want to watch them.
I've already downloaded Fantastic children though, will look into what Aoi Bungaku actually is, and might finally look for a download for Crest of the Stars. Rainbow I already have on my harddrive but haven't been in the mood to watch it yet, might be a good idea now though
