BTW, do not download anything copyrighted without one. Japan (like the rest of the world outside of the USA) is an active police country, which means officers have a duty to enforce all laws. Combine that with the fact that IRL crime is almost non-existent and catching pirates is easy as shit and you are cruising for a bruising if you fuck without a condom on.

VPNs are a scam, even the paid ones sell your date and will hand over your info when the time comes.
It's better to use alternate download methods that don't broadcast your ip to the entire world.

I would recommend getting a VPS and running openVPN on it. It's a bit more effort but it's a solution that's worked fine for me for a few years now.

OP here. Sounds like there's a bunch of mixed messages I'm getting here. Even from others I heard, that it won't be a huge problem to torrent anime in Japan. Is there a way through uTorrent or qBittorrent to just be hidden?
