But honestly when in doubt, better give it up. If it doesn't vibe with you, no need to force yourself through it. Too many anime movies out there to stick with the bad ones. I love Mononoke-hime personally, but that doesn't mean I think everyone else has to as well.
But if you're sensitive to "feminist power fantasies" - GitS has a strong female lead contemplating her womanhood as well...
