Hey anons.

I'm a retarded fag when it comes to computers.

So i recently got gifted a gtx770 4gb.
I've installed it but in games like siege it's saying i only have 2gb of memory.
So i'm a little lost.

Any help would be great. pic related. IT's the card.

Also go to device manager and check the card and install the latest drivers for it. Then again, I think nvidia gimped the 770 so maybe you're better off without it. Make a system restore point, update your drivers, and see if it works. If it doesn't, do a system restore to the previous point and report back here.

32-bit Windows divides its memory space into 2GB for the kernel and 2GB for processes.

Seen that number anywhere recently?

Think they're different things. Bit of googling shows that if the nvidia drivers are installed properly they see the ram fine and address it accordingly assuming the processor is compatible with PEA. Windows and processes like gpuZ see things differently. even though still 2GB of ram is the maximum amount of memory addressable by a process, but then there are things like virtual ram/ram disk/swap/etc.,

Anywho, OP needs to google it some more is all but is very likely due to his system being 32bit but certainly not a dead-end imo. Don't break the kids hope.

All 32-bit Windowses since 8 /require/ PAE, because they require DEP, which requires PAE. They just ignore the extra memory it allows them to address, for reasons Microsoft has not disclosed. Theories range from "because they're dicks" to "because driver writers didn't expect it, and you really don't want your disk controller driver encountering something it didn't expect".

All the kernel patch does is crack out the 4GB licensing restriction.

There's no need for despair: each 32-bit product key is also a 64-bit product key. All you need to do is download the media and reinstall.
