(In any case, I'm not sure why you'd want to follow a thread unless you're the OP, and in that case, isn't it in your interest to keep your thread up as long as possible, until someone who can fulfill your request comes along?)
To be clear, I don't dislike fast boards, but I am concerned that having new threads too frequently might undermine our ability to fulfill requests (especially those that require more work than simply making recommendations, recognizing sauce, or making quick shoops).
