>>743416From what I understand from my cousin who's currently a med student, the reason the US medication and hospital costs are so high is half because of government corruption with regards to patents and regulations which will only increase if medical aid is made public, and because most of the medical advancements are funded in part or whole by pharmaceutical companies from the US so costs are subsidized to pay for innovation. That said the reason why its so cheap outside of the US (to the degree that it is cheap, when in actuality its still rather expensive) is because they simply take medical advancements from the US and sell them out of country at a much lower cost.
And as far as saying the US has the worst coverage, that's mostly of how insurance is regulated, once again, by the government. For instance, you cannot LEGALLY purchase medical coverage from any company that hasn't tithed their "fair share" to the state, but in exchange that drastically limits area coverage of medical insurance agencies, and with supply being artificially limited by the state, costs go up. What would lower insurance costs is actually LESS government regulation not more. That said big pharma has deep pockets, and bribing politicians is legal here for some reason so that'll never happen.
>>743889Medicare isn't a be all end all, it only covers a portion of costs and is limited in scope to non-self inflicted ailments. If Tyrone had to pay even 50% of the costs he wouldn't go to the hospital, but under socialized care, Tyrone pays $0 and I pay 100%, since Tyrone is a nigger who obviously doesn't have a job.
