Does anyone know good book to get an entry level but well rounded view on what the various political stances mean in the modern day? A general overview type thing. Thank you in advance.

You don't need a book for that it's quiet simple. Both "sides" lie to the populist about what they think they want in order to get in control and then do what ever will benefit themselves and the elites closest to them regardless if their actions are considering conservative or progressive.
