I want to include Macross Delta, but you need to slog through the rest of the franchise and entries that aren't Macross Zero can be very irritating when they want to be (especially when there aren't action scenes). There are anime with romantic elements, but not enough for the genre tag although I'll mention them anyway: Gravion (romance portions are in the second half of the second series but are damn cool), Might Gaine (very slow romance until the final arc), VOTOMS, Gundam X, Dunbine (very strong in the tragedy department), Yamato franchise, God Mars, Acrobunch (sort of?), Elfen Lied, Iron Virgin Jun, Demon Lord Dante, and Devil Lady.
