Samurai Champloo (2004). This show is set in edo period Japan (1603-1868), but not in any particular year. It plays fast and loose with its setting, having all sorts of humorous anachronisms, the most memorable of which is its blend of modern hip-hop and samurai aesthetics. It focuses on the travels of a girl and her two bodyguards that want to kill each other. This show has the same director as the two above: Shinichiro Watanabe, a very respected creative lead. Since you've seen two shows of his already you kinda know his approach to storytelling and characters, he prefers lowlife-types who skirt the edge of polite society, with lots of traveling around.

>Kill la Kill
Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann (2007, also called TTGL). Crazy, over the top, manly passion and giant robots. It's hard to really encapsulate the intense energy of TTGL, but it is infectious. It has the same director as KLK, Hiroyuki Imaishi, so the art style and animation will feel familiar to you having seen KLK. This show gets truly crazy at times and has many ardent fans to this day.

>Berserk (manga)
Vinland Saga (2004, manga; 2019, anime). I recommend both manga and anime for this one. The anime adapts the "prologue" part of the manga, which is actually quite long and took a full 24 episodes to do. It's about vikings in 11th century northern Europe, particularly in England for the part the anime covers, but also in Iceland, and Denmark, and other places as the manga continues. A lot of the characters and events are historically based (including the main character of the series), but it's not a "true to history" show, there's lots of room for embellishment, though it does follow the general path of history.

Also, Blade of the Immortal (1993-2012, manga; 2019, anime, ongoing). Another historically set series (once again in the Edo Period), but not nearly as invested in history. It's about a an immortal swordsman who becomes the bodyguard of a girl seeking vengeance for her slain parents. A really gritty tale. Anime series is still ongoing, manga has very stylish artwork and great choreography. Anime took a while to find its footing, but it's become very good after a shaky start.

Kino no Tabi (2003). There's a 2017 version as well, that re-adapts the same source material (novels), but the 2003 version is better in my opinion. It's got a similar melancholy feeling to it and is about a solitary duo journeying from place to place. Watch the 2017 version if you enjoy the 2003.

>Fullmetal Alchemist (2003)
Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood (2009). I'd also recommend the original manga, which ran from 2001 until 2010. The 2003 anime adapts part of the manga but then branches off to do its own original story. The manga continued on for several years, and in 2009 they decided to re-adapt the story and this time stick to the source material, thus Brotherhood was made. So the early part of Broterhood has a lot of overlap with the first FMA anime, but generally moves at a faster pace and skips a few things, doesn't linger as long on some of the early powerful moments (like Hughes' death), until it reaches the divergence point and then slows down.

Other than this, I think I'll do my usual plug for Ghost in the Shell (1995 film), and Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex (2004, tv series), top notch sci-fi series. GitS is THE cyberpunk anime series. A must watch for the genre.

Also maybe try a comedy: Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou (2013, commonly called "nichibros"), translated to "Daily lives of high school boys" is pretty much what it says on the tin, hilarious situational comedy.

I’m sure it’s a good edition but after I watched the 2003 run I had a hard time getting into brotherhood because I really enjoyed the 2003 voice acting. Thought about getting into the manga but never got around to doing it.

I'm confused by this because both the English and Japanese casts are mostly the same between both shows.
