I've been pushing it off, so as to avoid becoming more of a weeb than I already am, but I now have an excuse to at least try learning Japanese.

I'd rather not hold onto unrealistic expectations time-wise, but my intentions are rather short-term, so I'd prefer a relatively expedient option, within reason.

I only really need to be able to understand the gist of the language when spoken, but as learning languages has never been my strong-suit, I'm not sure whether trying to learn the spoken language without knowing the written language would be particularly easier or harder.
