xpost from /a/. Can anyone recommend an action-genre anime/manga where there's no real difference between male and female characters in terms of ability? If the protagonist is in a league of their own, that's fine, as long as the supporting cast is playing on a level field among themselves.

I will tell you this now, though, that it's still ongoing. There are sixty-some odd chapters out there, but if you don't want to follow a series weekly once you've caught up, you might want to just put Chainsaw Man in the backlog until it's done. Up to you. Gash Bell -- although it's mostly a sausage party
Dorohedoro -- absolutely perfect example of gender/power parity
Hunter x Hunter -- although the main cast is mostly a sausage party, there are a lot of just-as-competent side females, including some major antagonists
Devilman Lady -- although you need the prerequisite of reading Devilman first, which you really should despite it not fulfilling your criteria
Fire Punch -- same author of Chainsaw Man, also good example of gender/power parity

All examples are strictly for the manga, not the anime adaptions.

Yeah Devilman Lady fits the criteria for the most part. The shitpost earlier mentioned it but I didn't want to explain to OP which he should listen to and which he should ignore. And if OP hasn't read Devilman yet then that's a damn crime, it's legitimately one of the few 5/5 must-read works that exist, especially considering how influential (and short) it is.
