Looking for some recommendations for movies for someone who has watched VERY few movies aside from the basic stuff like Spielberg and George Lucas stuff. The only movies I've really seen in the past few years were foreign subtitled ones or trash films at 3am.

What are some essential movies for me to watch if I'm into horror, psychological and maybe some neo-noir stuff? I know for sure I'm not a big fan of generic action films and prefer more dialogue and subtlety (as pretentious as that sounds).
