I cant add some of my images to favorites list on windows 10 photo viewer.
Why is that and how to fix?

Windows 10 photo viewer can't favorite .png files. Not even joking. Ask Microsoft why they do this.

Technical explanation: apparently the photo viewer sets a favorite by adding the attributes "Rating = 4" and "RatingPercent = 75" in a JPG's EXIF metadata and whoever is responsible for the favorite function is unaware that PNG also accepts arbitrary metadata through the iTXT chunk.
