I've never watched an anime and want to get into it because I'm off work bored and want to try a new medium of entertainment, what do I watch?

Death not is a good entry anime, couse normies like it even do it has a lot of "weird" anime stuff, so it can get you into the medium as a whole. People will tell you to watch ghibli movies first but that's stupid because there aren't a loot of other anime like them.
Its like trying to get to rap by listening to "viper the rapper" you may like it but you wont find more people like him.

There are anime movies that are just animated movies, essentially, not different from the western stuff. Ghibli stuff, for example.
Then there's anime anime.
Can't go wrong with Attack on Titan.
Cowboy Bebop is great.
Ghibli movies
Berserk is awesome, just don't touch the newer seasons. They were made by an amateur studio on a shoestring budget.

As great as Joe is, I'd say it's hard to rec someone just starting especially with how old it is. But it's definitely something you want to show someone who knows nothing about anime once they start getting into it since they wouldn't know a thing about the big spoilers so they'd love it.
