5GHz wifi on old laptop

I got this very old laptop, which can only receive 2.5GHz wifi. Is there a way to change that? I am not that computer savvy unfortunately.

USB adapters are beyond trash, only use them as an absolute last resort if your laptop has no slots for add-in cards or expansion slots.

2.4 is speed limiting. the combo units I install are dual band. You wont see much over 30mbps on 2.4ghz

Unless you're prepared to dewhitelist OP's BIOS for him, talk him through flashing it, then pick up the pieces when he fucks it up, this is in fact the case.
