I am looking for scifi anime with a hard science focus and with a large scale plot like Gunbuster. Basically I want an anime space opera to watch, any recommendations?

I don't watch much anime I have only seen Gunbuster and TTGL. Never watched a Gundam but it seems like there are too many series and episodes for me to catch up with it
